Tosoh and Rohm and Haas Terminate AMBERCHROM™ Distribution Agreement
Tokyo, Japan and Philadelphia, PA., U.S. – Tosoh Corporation (TSE: 4042) and Rohm and Haas (NYSE: ROH) announced today that the distribution agreement for the Amberchrom reversed phase chromatography resins will be terminated as of December 31, 2005. Rohm and Haas’ Amberchrom resins are designed for the purification of proteins, peptides, and oligonucleotides and are used in the development and full-scale production of biopharmaceuticals compounds.
A company spokesman for Tosoh Corporation stated that Tosoh Bioscience companies remain committed to increasing sales volume and will provide all necessary customer support for the duration of the transition to Rohm and Haas as the sole distributor of Amberchrom.
Jean François Ferraro, Advanced Biosciences General Manager of Rohm and Haas, stated, "We have had an excellent partnership with Tosoh and value the long-term relationship we’ve built together. This decision to terminate the distribution agreement was purely strategic as our focus has shifted to establishing a stronger position in the bioseparations market. We will work with Tosoh to assure that the transition for all customers is as smooth as possible.”
