Tosoh Logistics Corporation Establishes Subsidiary in China
Tokyo, Japan – Tosoh Corporation announced that the wholly owned subsidiary, Tosoh Logistics Corporation, Inc., has set up operations in Guangzhou, China with establishment of Tosoh Logistics Warehouse Co., Ltd. Located in the Guangzhou Nansha Development Zone in Guangdong Province, the newly established subsidiary will support operations for Tosoh (Guangzhou) Chemical Industries, Inc. (TGC). TGC is presently constructing a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant that when completed in late 2006 will have a capacity of 220,000 metric tons per year. PVC is the second most popular plastic in the world and Tosoh is establishing manufacturing facilities in China to better serve that growing market.
A greater presence in China is being achieved by building integrated chlor-alkali operations that will span facilities in Japan and Asia. The production line for PVC begins with basic raw materials manufactured in Japan and ends with delivery of the finished product to customers in China. Tosoh Logistics Corporation, with years of experience in packaging, warehousing, shipping, and delivery, will serve as the backbone of operations for this new business model. Tosoh Logistics Corporation will play a vital role in moving the raw material vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) from the Nanyo Complex in Yamaguchi Prefecture in Japan to the PVC production site in China. Tosoh Logistics Warehouse Co., Ltd will then complete the integrated logistics system by supporting domestic sales distribution lines for delivery to PVC customers.
Tosoh Logistics Corporation initially moved into China with a Shanghai representative office in 2004 and will continue to build an international logistics network for Tosoh Group expansion in Asia and beyond.
