Operations Worldwide Consolidated under “Tosoh Bioscience Brand”

Reorganization, new logistic centers, and production expansion for optimal access to high-growth markets

Tokyo, Japan – Tosoh Corporation announced that as part of strategic initiatives to take advantage of high-growth bioscience-related markets, “Scientific Instruments Division” will be renamed “Tosoh Bioscience Division.”  This will better convey Tosoh’s current activities and future course in bioseparation and diagnostics fields.   In 2003 all affiliated scientific and diagnostic system related companies in North America and Europe were unified successfully under the Tosoh Bioscience brand. To improve Tosoh’s global market position the re-branding will now cover Japan and operations being launched throughout Asia.

“This move is part of our overall strengthening efforts which include the recent construction of new logistic centers in North America and Europe, as well as expanding production capacities to better serve our markets. We believe that completing the global brand will bring about more efficient use of resources and provide for collaborative research, development, and marketing efforts”, stated Hiroyuki Uchida, Managing Director of Tosoh Corporation and Senior General Manager of the Bioscience Division.

The decision to unify all group members makes it now possible for Tosoh Bioscience to present the same brand, while providing each and every customer with uniformly high-quality products and services.

Tosoh Bioscience Division
The Scientific Instruments Division of Tosoh Corporation launched operations in 1971 with the first TSK-GEL column for HPLC systems.    Tosoh chromatographic products have evolved over more than thee decades from the measurement and analysis of polymers and organic compounds to development in the Bioscience Age with analysis, separation, and purification of proteins.  Now Tosoh Bioscience fully-automated systems incorporate the latest immunoassay technologies to rapidly diagnose life-threatening diseases such as diabetes and certain cancers.  The product line-up includes AIA Automated Immunoassay Analyzers, Glycohemoglobin HPLC Analyzers, separation media (TOYOPEARL), and HPLC columns (TSK-GEL). More recently, the Company has extended its scientific product line to include TRC* nucleic acid-amplification testing (NAT) reagents and devices with the launch of the TRCRapid-160 real-time fluorescence monitoring system with the TRC reagent. The TRC system allows genetic testing to diagnose and screen for infectious diseases and cancer.
