Tosoh began cement production in 1953. The idea of producing cement at a soda production plant using an ammonia soda process seemed both logical and economical.

The marketing and sale of Tosoh’s entire cement production has been consigned to Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, one of Japan’s leading cement manufacturers.

Portland fly-ash cement

Fly-ash cement was first used in the U.S. in 1929 for the Hoover Dam, where engineers found that it allowed for less total cement.  Although fly ash cement itself is less dense than portland cement, the produced concrete is denser and results in a smoother surface with sharper detail.

Eco-friendly Fuel
Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF)

Tosoh uses RDF as raw fuel for its cement plant in cooperation with the local environmental initiatives.  RDF is a produced by solidifying general refuse. Solidifying general refuse to produce RDF allows a reduction in the weight of general refuse by nearly half.
