Tosoh to Begin Manufacturing and Selling New Industrial Cleaning Solvent—Plans to End Sales of Bromine-Based NFS series

Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh to Begin Manufacturing and Selling New Industrial Cleaning Solvent—Plans to End Sales of Bromine-Based NFS series

Tokyo, Japan—In October, Tosoh Corporation will commence the manufacture and sale of a new industrial cleaning solvent that it has developed independently at its Nanyo Complex in Shunan, Yamaguchi Prefecture. HA-IS16 is an environmentally friendly, non-halogen, nonflammable cleaning solvent that boasts superior cleaning, drying, recovery, and safety properties.
Tosoh has decided to end sales of its bromine-based NFS series of cleaning solvents because of industry’s increasing replacement of such solvents with more environmentally friendly substitutes. Sales of the NFS series are scheduled to end December 31, 2013.
The company continues to develop the cleaning solvent market with its high-performance, hydrocarbon-based HC series, which enjoys a strong reputation. It now adds HA-IS16, whose properties are outlined below, to its cleaning solvent product lineup.

1. Special Properties of HA-IS16
Superior Cleaning: Removes a wide range of water-soluble and non-soluble oils.
Superior Drying: Reduces drying time because the use of a pure water rinse after oil removal is unnecessary.
Superior Recovery: Heightens recycling because the oil can be separated and recovered from the solvent.
Superior Safety: Eliminates halogen substances, including fluorine, chlorine, bromine, and others, to provide an easy-to-use cleaning solvent that is nonflammable and requires no fire prevention measures and that is extremely environmentally friendly.

2. Reference: Industrial Cleaning Solvents
Industrial cleaning solvents are used in such diverse applications as automobiles, electronic equipment and components, precision instruments, and optical components. They are used to remove oil and other substances that become attached to metal components during the fabrication process.
