Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh has developed E Test TOSOH® II (Presepsin), a reagent that measures presepsin, a diagnostic biomarker of sepsis, and launched sales in Japan* on June 30, 2017. On December 6, 2016, Tosoh acquired approval from Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare for its manufacture and sale as an in vitro diagnostic drug. The release of this reagent bolsters the company’s lineup of dedicated reagents for its AIA® Series of immunoassay analyzers.
Changes in the concentration of presepsin in the blood are known to be closely correlated with the clinical course of bacterial sepsis. The use of this reagent makes it possible to measure presepsin in human serum or plasma as an aid in assessment of patients with suspected sepsis. This test can be used to assess severity of sepsis and judge the effect of treatment through a test that takes only about 20 minutes. It is expected that this will contribute to emergency medicine and other clinical environments.
This reagent is specifically for use with Tosoh’s AIA Series of automatic enzyme immunoassay analyzers. Tosoh has a lineup of more than 50 dedicated reagents for all types of hormones and tumor markers. The new reagent can be used with all models from compact to large-scale, and generates the same results regardless of the model with which it is used.
Tosoh is proceeding with research and development on immunodiagnostic devices and reagents. By expanding its lineup of products for diagnoses requiring rapid measurement, the company intends to continue supporting healthcare professionals on the front lines of medicine.
