Corporate Mark

The corporate mark is the core of the Tosoh Corporate Visual Identity Guidelines. Always a single unit, it expresses Tosoh's vision of the ideal through its precise lines and curves.

  • About the Corporate Mark
    The Basics

    mVIG_CMelements.jpg

The corporate mark consists of two graphic elements: the red Tosoh symbol and the Tosoh logotype. The two elements should always remain a single unit. The logotype must appear directly below the symbol. To maintain the integrity of the corporate mark, the proportions and spacing should never be altered.

The official color of the Tosoh symbol is Tosoh Red, and the Tosoh logotype is black.

    Minimum Size

With pre-approved vector artwork, the corporate mark may be any size above a specific minimum width of 8 mm for printed use and 45 pixels for digital (on-screen) use.

  • Exclusion Area

As a general rule, when the corporate mark is used as a single element, keep the exclusion area free of any graphics, text, or images.

The standard exclusion area is 2 proportions of a, whereas a is equal to the size of the empty square* in the middle of the mark's symbol as defined in the diagram.

*The square in the center of the symbol is empty and not to be rendered/filled with white.

EXCEPTION: For small size applications (e.g. branded souvenirs) or situations that call for maximum visibility (i.e. booths/stands at crowded exhibition halls), the minimum exclusion area may be reduced to 1 times the length of a.

Corporate mark artwork files with the exclusion area already included are available on request by contacting International Corporate Development.

  • Color Variants

Alternative variants of the standard Tosoh corporate mark are also available depending on the situation.

    Use:

The Standard corporate mark should be placed on a white background. Exception: Non-white backgrounds are allowed as long as the background color or texture does not reduce visibility of the mark. Such use is subject to approval by the IPR manager in International Corporate Development.

The One-color corporate mark is made up entirely of Tosoh Red (see Colors) and, if used, should be placed on a light or white background.

The Monotone and All-white corporate marks, if used, should be placed on backgrounds that provide maximum visibility of the mark as seen in the examples above.

The corporate mark should not be engraved, embossed, water-marked or otherwise rendered in a manner that is not one of the above variants. For other restrictions, please see "Corporate Mark Restrictions" below.

  • Figurative Meaning of the Corporate Mark

The corporate mark symbolizes our corporate philosophy. It is, in other words, an expression of Tosoh’s vision of the ideal. The curved lines, with their inherent warmth, represent “the realization of happiness,” a major goal for us, as well as the Tosoh management philosophy of putting people first. The square in the center expresses the advanced nature of Tosoh’s technology, which underpins the chemical revolution the company is advancing, and represents the outstanding quality of Tosoh products. The right-angle cut at the top left portrays an image of contributing to society, Tosoh’s basic stance toward the outside world, and adds to the originality of the mark. The Tosoh red corporate color symbolizes the Tosoh spirit that guides us in our ceaseless efforts to realize the ideal. The corporate mark is the most basic element of our Visual Identity Guidelines.

  • Use and Registration

An outside organization’s right to use the corporate mark is subject to the discretion of Tosoh Corporation, the legal proprietor of the corporate mark. Affiliated bodies of Tosoh Corporation must not register the corporate mark in any country or on any application field on behalf of Tosoh Corporation. Legal registration of the corporate mark is the sole authority of Tosoh Corporation Legal & Patents.

Tosoh Corporation reserves the right to regulate the use of the corporate mark by its subsidiaries, group companies and their agents and other business affiliates.

  • Tosoh logotype restrictions

    Typing

The Tosoh corporate mark's logotype has been specially created and therefore should not be typed or inserted into a template or document, and, unless otherwise noted, should never be rendered in all capital letters in running text (i.e. "Lorem dolor sit TOSOH amet..."). If you do not have access to the pre-approved artwork, please contact your local PR Contact or the international corporate communications manager in International Corporate Development, Tosoh Corporation.

EXCEPTION: While not recommended at length, the typing of full sentences or other running copy in all capital letters warrants the rendering of the logotype in all-caps (i.e. "LOREM DOLOR SIT TOSOH AMET...") as consistency demands.

    Horizontal Variant

The Tosoh logotype should never be placed to the right of the symbol. This use is strictly reserved for Tosoh Corporation in producing materials intended for audiences in Japan.

  • QR Codes

Placement of the corporate mark within a QR code is strictly prohibited.

Corporate Mark Restrictions

It is very important to maintain consistency with the corporate mark. A few examples have been provided to show typical unacceptable usage. More examples can be found on page 9 of the Tosoh VIG.
