Plant Accident Investigation and Prevention Committee Report Submitted

Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh Corporation submitted its Nanyo Complex Accident Investigation Report to the relevant authorities on April 3, 2012, and the report was officially accepted by the authorities on April 6. The report is the work of the Nanyo Complex Accident Investigation and Prevention Committee. It was received, reviewed, and approved by the Senior Accident Investigation and Prevention Committee at the sixth meeting of the committee on March 31, 2012, before its submission to the authorities. 

On November 14, 2011, a day after the explosion and fire at the Nanyo Complex No. 2 Vinyl Chloride Monomer Plant, Tosoh Corporation established the Nanyo Complex Accident Investigation and Prevention Committee. Shortly after, Tosoh Corporation invited outside experts and scholars in the field of explosions and safety to form a Senior Accident Investigation and Prevention Committee to investigate the cause of the accident and to recommend countermeasures to avoid a similar accident. 

At their sixth meeting, on March 31, the Senior Accident Investigation and Prevention Committee confirmed and accepted as valid the accident cause and prevention measures stipulated in the report submitted at that meeting by the Nanyo Complex Accident Investigation and Prevention Committee. 

Tosoh Corporation again sincerely apologizes to the residents and emergency and other oversight bodies in the area surrounding its Nanyo Complex for the trouble the November 13 accident caused. We likewise apologize to our customers and associates and the many other parties affected by the accident.
