Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the “Company,” led by President Mamoru Kuwada) filed a complaint for patent infringement against Dental Direkt GmbH, headquartered in the Federal Republic of Germany. The complaint was filed in the US District Court for Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division on February 26, 2024.
This legal action was commenced following determination that Dental Direkt GmbH has been willfully infringing the Company’s United States Patent Nos.9,249,056 B2 and 9,309,157 B2, relating to sintered zirconia products. The Company seeks both an injunction against further infringement and monetary damages arising from Dental Direkt GmbH 's sales of the accused zirconia products.
The Company, a manufacturer and supplier of zirconia powder for dental applications, holds numerous patents on zirconia powder in the world, including those for products in both pre-sintered and fully sintered forms. The Company regards its intellectual property rights as an essential asset and is committed to rigorously defending these rights against any infringement.
