Tosoh Hi-Tec Unveils Solar Power Generation System and Automation Equipment

Shunan, Japan—Tosoh Hi-Tec, Inc. (Headquarters: Yamaguchi Prefecture, President: Shunya Shinohara), a member of the Tosoh Group, today announces the implementation of a solar power generation system, which officially began operations on January 29, 2024.

Installed atop the Fukugawa Factory, Tosoh Hi-Tec's primary facility, the solar panels boast a maximum output of 750 kW. Designed primarily for internal consumption, the system is projected to generate approximately 840 MWh annually. This amount of energy could power around 230 typical households, each consisting of four individuals, based on an average daily consumption of 10 kWh per household. Moreover, this renewable energy source accounts for nearly 30% of the company's total electricity consumption in the Fukugawa area, which also encompasses the company’s TRC* Factory. This solar power system is forecast to curtail CO2 emissions by approximately 438 metric tons each year.

Tosoh Hi-Tec underscores its commitment to local renewable energy production and consumption by harnessing solar power for internal use.  The company will continue to combat climate change and contribute to realizing a sustainable society.

In addition to the solar power initiative, Tosoh Hi-Tec is implementing automation equipment to bolster production efficiency. At the Fukugawa Factory, a digitalization system has been introduced for assembly procedures for diagnostic and separations equipment. Leveraging 3D CAD models, this system autonomously generates assembly sequences and produces user-friendly 3D instruction manuals, featuring one step per page. It also automatically estimates the duration of each step.

Meanwhile, at the TRC Factory, automation equipment is set to revolutionize the packaging process, replacing manual procedures. This upgrade, slated for operation commencement in April 2024, highlights Tosoh Hi-Tec's dedication to digital transformation initiatives. The company aims to foster further growth and bolster its competitive edge through these endeavors.
